Cops: Cyclist Dies Clipped in the Pedals

Andrew Walsh believed to have died from medical event, police say.

An East Hampton man, who was cycling through Northwest Woods on Sept. 13, died after he was found on the side of the road.

Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said Andrew Walsh, 45, was found still clipped to the bike pedals and leaning against a tree on Old Northwest Road. A passerby called police at 6:22 p.m.

The transported Walsh to Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Anderson said.

Police do no suspect any foul play. Anderson said he believed a medical event occurred, though they are still awaiting a final report from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office.
