Cops: 2 Accidents on Stephen Hands Path Friday Morning Not Related

Two drivers in single-car accidents just a half-hour apart were charged with DWI, according to East Hampton Town police.

Two drivers in separate single-car accidents in East Hampton during the early morning hours on Friday were charged with driving while intoxicated, according to Town Police Chief Ed Ecker.

The accidents happened on Stephen Hands Path, just 32 minutes apart.

Ecker said, however, they were not related.

The first accident was reported to police at 2:18 a.m. on Stephen Hands Path, near Cedar Street. The driver did not require an ambulance, Ecker said.

The second was reported at 608 Stephen Hands Path, near Wheelock Way, at 2:50 a.m.

responded for a report of a vehicle on fire. The took the driver to the hospital, where he was admitted, Ecker said, adding that the driver does not have life-threatening injuries.

Police did not immediately release the names of the drivers, pending their arraignments on Friday morning.
