This article was originally published on Jan. 17:

An East Hampton Village police officer has been relieved from duty and is on leave and another village employee has been fired following a complaint of criminal trespass at a house in the village late last month.

According to a previously released incident report, the two were caught a house on Talmage Lane after guest of the homeowner arrived on Dec. 30 at about 11 a.m.  They did not have the homeowner's permission to be there, according to police.

Neither the 31-year-old officer nor the woman, whom Chief Jerry Larsen described as a 20-year-old part-time civilian employee, have been charged.

"At this point in time criminal charges have yet to be filed in the case at the request of the property owner; however, this will not preclude the department from filing misconduct or other charges in the case, should they be warranted," Larsen said.

The village is prohibited from releasing the officer's name.

Meanwhile, the employment of Jennifer Rosa, a part-time traffic control officer, was terminated, a move approved by the East Hampton Village Board at their monthly meeting on Friday morning effective retroactively to Dec. 30.

The woman was allegedly a part-time house cleaner at the residence, Larsen said.

The officer, a 9-year employee, was relieved of his badge and firearm on Dec. 30 and he remains on leave, Larsen said.

An internal investigation of the incident is continuing, and further departmental action against the officer is expected, Larsen said in a statement on Friday.

They have not been charged, though the initial incident report stated the homeowner did wish to pursue charges.

The chief and mayor are corrupt! Too many police in the village! Always feel like they are waiting to get you
Barbara Borsack January 19, 2014 at 11:22 PM
I was asked to sit out of the exec sessions for obvious reasons - of course it was a specific purpose. I don't even understand your issue there. I was told they had to discuss an issue I could not participate in because of a possible conflict of interest (our village attorney is very good about these things) Since I was not part of the process that began before I was in office I had no knowledge of the issue. When it did go to a vote I was informed ahead what the vote was (it was public knowledge at that point) and I obviously abstained and recused myself from any discussion. This is all part of the public records. Obviously I cannot comment on any ongoing issues in this thread but this land purchase was over 14 years ago and the public record is all available for your viewing. I have done nothing to deserve the implications of your posts. I do not want to get into a public dialog here but you are welcome to call me and have a conversation any time. It would be nice if you knew all the facts before you accuse anyone, especially when hiding behind "the bushes". This is my final comment - I see no reason to continue to defend myself against someone who is not even willing to be honest himself (or herself) about who he/she is. It's easy to make accusations anonymously, isn't it?

This story is shameful. These guys make serious $$$. Do we really need both Village and Town police patrols?

I see it's big news now in Great Britain. New photos in the UK Daily Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2542313/Two-cops-snuck-Hamptons-house-owner-away-sex-caught-trespass-tryst.html

I have known Barbara Borsack for more than 40 years. I know her to be honest, above board and a woman who loves her community and wants the best for all who live there. To attack her in any way is cruel and unjust. People like her who serve the community the way she does in so many ways do not deserve to defend themselves against ignorant people who make unfounded comments. Those who truly know her will not, like some of you, believe everything they hear and read. I suggest you watch your own life before someone starts speaking untruths and gossip about YOU! Stand strong, Barbara.
RPalmer January 20, 2014 at 11:43 AM
I find it offensive to see any accusations against Barbara Borsack. I do not live in the village, I have no connection to any local government but I have known Barbara Borsack for many years having worked with her in some local non-profits. This is one of the most above-board people you will ever meet in your lifetime. I think an apology is in order.
MARTIN DREW January 20, 2014 at 11:51 AM

MARTIN DREW January 20, 2014 at 12:01 PM
RPalmer -- see comments above ^^^^ wouldn't count on any apology.. it's a jungle this patch .. lol
Sean Duchemin January 20, 2014 at 12:14 PM
I agree that an apology may, in fact, be needed in response to one accusation that "in the bushes" has stated, But he/she definitely knows the behind the scenes in regards to everything else.
Christina DeLauro January 20, 2014 at 02:49 PM
Hey Waygood and Palmer. How about ill respect yours if you respect mine ? Grow a pair and stop whining. Say your peace and move on. NEXT !
Martha Nassauer January 20, 2014 at 03:16 PM
@ Barbara... Some people use their real names, where others choose to use screen names. Screen names were created and exist primarily as a result of concerns due to cyber stalking, identity theft, and privacy issues. Others use screen names so that they can spew whatever they wish, without fear of reprisal in their personal and/or professional lives. In some cases it may be offensive to family members sharing the same surname of the bloggers, as the comments may not represent their own views, and don't want to be embarrassed and/or ostracized for any comments they don't agree with. Message boards can be a great way for progress to be made, such as for the betterment of society. It is also a venue for people to "troll" others. I don't mind using my name, as I only write about things I personally KNOW to be truthful. Sometimes, the truth hurts though. In your case, I have no idea what role you played in the matter mentioned by "In the bushes of EHV," but I applaud you standing up for yourself. If you are innocent of wrongdoing then you should not worry. The community does need a way to share ideas and concerns, and in my opinion, if a person feels so strongly about a topic in mentioning specific people and circumstances, then they should have the decency to attach their real name to it (for accountability purposes - it works both ways). Blogs written by unidentified people don't usually bear significant value, unless their input turns up as truth when fact checked. The use of the internet, more specifically blog forums, if used responsively, could serve as a great system of checks and balances. You also need to accept the fact that due to so much corruption within our leadership, locally and nationally, that people have become more suspicious and skeptical, and public forums are a venue in which people can air their concerns...right or wrong. And if you are as honest and trustworthy as your supporters say you are, then rock on, and keep up the good work. Honorable and moral leaders are what this town, and country need, if we are to be the greatest nation in the world. We can do without the rest of the garbage.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well said
Jessi January 21, 2014 at 06:50 PM
Stop it. Lets leave it up to justice. Stop talking like it was a rape. The woman surely wanted to do it. Then women stop letting guys use you. Respect yourselves
Eastend50 January 21, 2014 at 07:21 PM
@MNassauer, In ref to your above posts, I agree with Martin Drew, Well Said! I do not agree however, with most posters that nothing will be done about it. The stupidity by those two employees has caused Mayor Rickenbach great embarrassment. I will go further than that, it has made him look like a complete a**hole in front of a lot of influential people who have summer homes in the village. The story has been picked up by the MSM and has gone viral all over the world in the past 72 hrs. The Mayor said in Newsday, promised swift action. I think you'll see some heads roll. The Mayor is not the type of man to laugh this off.
MARTIN DREW January 21, 2014 at 11:02 PM
@ Jessi - Of course no rape ... she just needed to DO IT .. at his house / a hotel / a motel ... NOT at your employment location w/o consent of the OWNER. Trespassing is a crime . WE all would have been arrested . Mayor Rickenback / save YOUR legacy - ENFORCEMENT starts at the TOP down ... let 's hope the powers that be get the message - NO -One is above the law ... Even OBAMA ...
MARTIN DREW January 21, 2014 at 11:29 PM
They fired the woman w/o a concern for her career .. so let that attitude continue and fire MARIO too .. equality .. means equal treatment : ie. both village employees .. NOW both FORMER employees ... (1) down (1) to go or re-instate the woman .. fair is fair ...RIGHT?
RPalmer January 22, 2014 at 12:26 AM
What happened to the comments from "in the bushes"? They disappeared :-)
Jessi January 22, 2014 at 12:29 AM
Yes. Both should keep their jobs and learn from their mistakes. And better themselves in every direction
Martha Nassauer January 22, 2014 at 06:51 AM
PATCH. I would like to know where the comments went from "in the bushes" as well. If "in the bushes of EHV" retracted them, ok..but I doubt it. If PATCH removed them, then I feel you should revisit your guidelines. If we, as citizens, are not allowed to say how we feel in holding our leaders accountable, then YOU, Patch...have violated our second amendment right to FREE SPEECH. "in the bushes" raised some questions, and they were ANSWERED! What harm was done? In this case, a board member, Barbara Borsack, was questioned about a parcel of land in the village. She answered the question with a dignified response. What say you, Patch? Taylor??? Please inform your readers if these threads are censored, and if so (which appears obvious), why?
local Business owner January 22, 2014 at 08:31 AM
Patch dont censor. !!! We are all going to sign off if your in bed with the police. The mayor really does nothing in east Hampton . The mayor in sag harbor is much more involved
JOE CITIZEN January 22, 2014 at 08:38 AM
MNassauer, this is a privately owned and operated website. They have the right to remove any posts they wish to. Your right to free speech does not apply here. Also, its the first amendment. You've got your soapbox's mixed up.
local Business owner January 22, 2014 at 08:41 AM
Where is in the bushes???? Did the police find out who he is??? Patch has everyone's emails and could turn us in to the establishment. I don't feel safe
Martha Nassauer January 22, 2014 at 09:08 AM
Right, Joe. I did. I got them confused while going through emails BEFORE my coffee. My bad. I am human, I make mistakes...and admit them. So, Patch, what say YOU? "Joe boxers" was speaking for you, I see. Are you censoring posts, again?
JOE CITIZEN January 22, 2014 at 09:14 AM
They are always censoring posts. As is every other website out there that is privately owned. You must realize that. Its not a conspiracy, its how message boards, blogs, forums etc work. They have a basic user agreement and the admins have the right to remove any posts/comment that they deem necessary for whatever reason they want.
JOE CITIZEN January 22, 2014 at 09:35 AM
http://easthampton.patch.com/terms Here's the terms of the site for anyone interested.
Martha Nassauer January 22, 2014 at 11:01 AM
They are ALWAYS censoring posts? Based on the discretion of who? A bit subjective, I might add. In the bushes of EHV seemed to be in compliance with the general terms, so what gives, Patch? What kind of "service" censors comments that comply with your terms? What term was violated, so that we, as "users" of your "service" can duly note them for future reference? Are your spokespeople answering for you? And I also read that Patch "encourages" users to utilize their REAL names.
"Pride of Bonac" January 22, 2014 at 12:08 PM
I do believe that Mayor Rickenbach and the town board will do the right thing
JOE CITIZEN January 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM
MNassauer, I can't speak directly for patch, but I can say that he made false accusations, and that is against their terms of service.
