Campaign Notebook: Irace Kicks Off Town Justice Run

Running on the Republican and Independence tickets, Irace started campaign season in Montauk.

The political season is in full swing already this summer.

Carl Irace began his campaign for East Hampton Town Justice with a cocktail reception at the Surfside Inn in Montauk on June 30.

Irace, who lives in Springs, is running on the Republican ticket and also has an endorsement from the Independence Party. His opponent is East Hampton attorney Steven Tekulsky, the Democratic candidate.

An attorney with a private practice in East Hampton, Irace has spent most of his career as a public servant. He is a former prosecutor working with the Bronx District Attorney's office for nine years, and he also worked as a Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of East Hampton for two years.

In a statement, Irace said he hopes to bring "a fresh perspective, vitality, and changes to the traditional role of Justice to make the court more responsive to the needs of the citizens it serves."
