Alleged Burglar Got Two Rides from Cops

Also: Man causes damage to public restrooms in East Hampton Village.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• An 18-year-old from Bay Shore was allegedly carrying burglar's tools and stole cash from a car in East Hampton Village on July 30.

Police gave John Eile Koshar a ride after they saw him walking down Georgica Road, near Apaquogue Road, at about 2:30 a.m. He told police he needed a ride back to Main Bach.

When they got back to the beach, police asked for his identification. He opened his black Kodak camera bag to look for his ID when the officer saw a small black leather case that appeared to have lock pick tools inside of it. He told police, they said, that they were his tools.

Police questioned him further and found he had taken cash from a vehicle parked at the Sea Spray Cottages.

Koshar was charged with attempted burglary in the third degree, a felony, as well as possession of burglar's tools, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, and petty larceny, all misdemeanors. He is due back in court on Aug. 15.

• A 46-year-old Montauk man broke a toilet seat, garbage can and a stall door in the public restrooms off Herrick Park in East Hampton Village on Aug. 1 at about 6:40 p.m., police said. While on patrol, an officer was stopped by an employee at Waldbaum's regarding a man yelling profane language and breaking objects in the restroom. The officer said he could hear yelling and screaming and objects breaking. He apprehended the man, and found a small amount of marijuana in his back pocket during a pat down. The man was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was released on $150 bail.

• Isao Yoshimura, 39, of Weehawken, N.J., was arrested on a drunken driving charge on Aug. 1 at about 3:45 a.m. Village police said they saw his 1998 Infinit driving on the shoulder after making a left turn from Accabonac Road onto Pantigo Road.He then overcompensated, crossing over the double-yellow line, according to the report. He was stopped on Pantigo Road, near Amy's Lane, an appeared intoxicated. Charged with misdemeanor DWI, as well as several violations, including refusal to take a breath test, he was held for arraignment. He was released on $750 bail.
