UPDATE: 4 Cars Collide on Napeague Stretch

Four cars crashed on the Napeague Stretch, just west of the , on Sunday evening, sending four to the hospital.

The accident occurred on the two-lane stretch of Montauk Highway, between Amagansett and Montauk, at about 6:45 p.m.

The shut down the road until about 8 p.m. Westbound traffic was diverted down Napeague Meadow Lane and eastbound traffic was sent up Cranberry Hole Road.

Two of Amagansett ambulances and an ambulance from the transported the victims to Southampton Hospital with minor injuries.

Though it wasn't immediately clear what caused the accident, it did not appear any arrests were made.

A utility pole reportedly sustained some damage in the crash. Four tow trucks were called to take away cars.
