Summer Soundtrack Gets Going

Music helps us remember our good times. What musical memories will you make?

I'd bet that this has happened to you. You're on your way to work, thinking about where you're going to get your coffee and still be on time, when you hear a snippet of a song. It's not necessarily a well-crafted song, probably a top 40 from years ago. Still, it packs some power. It comes at you and pulls you right back into the Summer of ___.   You can feel the sun caressing your skin.  An ocean breeze riffles your hair. You have your toes in the sand. A smile grows on your face.

Music affects us. I believe we each have soundtracks of our lives.  Some of our happiest and saddest moments are attached to tunes surrounding us at those times.  A ballad from freshman year in High School can make us feel both the angst and the carelessness of then.  The opening strains of 10cc's "I'm not in Love" puts me back in a peasant shirt and cut offs at .  We love hearing the tunes that help us remember the good times.  My husband made the arrangement of "Hot, Hot, Hot" that brought to the world.  People are always telling him that they think of happy times when they hear his first piano tickles on that tune.

Whether it be party tunes like that or "Moonlight Senata", we should envelope ourselves with melodies that can enrich and preserve our wonderful times. We are fortunate to be in a beautiful town. Not only that, we are lucky to have so many musical talents, both resident and visiting. Therefore, we have many lovely spots (pricey to inexpensive) that offer a view and live music.
