Do the Animals Know it's Memorial Day Weekend?

Gentle reminders from our animal friends about the holiday weekend.

Do the animals know what Memorial weekend is all about specifically? No.

BUT when you are excitedly making plans in front of your pet they are looking at the pictures you are projecting as a storyline and the happy emotions that go along with those pictures as fun that they are potentially going to be involved with. So I have been asked to remind humans of a few things from the animal perspective.

If you are taking us on a leash and you will be standing around talking for long periods, can we have very long leashes so we can wander and sniff around instead of having to lay down at your feet?

If we are going to places where there will be other dogs that you want me to like please don't stop me from butt smelling, i'm getting important information. Oh and I may act like I don't want any other dog sniffing my butt, but as long as they have manners I'm not really going to bite them.

Dogs generally like parades BUT if the big trucks (firetrucks) have the wailing sounds THAT hurts the ears. At least cover the ears till they pass and if you can pick us up that would be the time.

Children: If I am not used to chaotic unpredictable movements in general please leave me home when you go to the places where the people are with the children who run around, especially if they are screaming.

If it is hot can I stay home? Its hard to breathe in the hot car and you are always gone longer than "be right back"

If a small person is walking around with food I am going to take it from them.

Horse note: We love parades! Remember you're on my back so I'm following your breathing pattern as my lead. Relaxed breathing means everything is great and I can feel secure. If you hold your breath or start breathing shallow you are communicating to me that I need to be afraid of something.

Just a few perspectives from our animal friends.
