SHARE Your Photos, Messages for Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day on Sunday, show us the veteran in your life.

We all know and love someone who served this country. Here's a chance to honor them.

Veterans Day is Sunday, and it will be observed at several parades on the South Fork, as well as a flag ceremony on Monday in Montauk. They are great ways to honor veterans everywhere, even those you don't know personally.

Here, we'd like to offer you a place to display a message to a veteran who's special to you. You can add his or her photo, by clicking the upload button. Just be sure to write a caption so we can track of who everybody is, and please tell us if they live or lived in our area (they don't have to, it's just nice to note if they are local).

If you don't have a photo to share, please leave a note to let veterans everywhere know you appreciate their service.

Thanks to Lynne Scanlon — who suggested residents bring their photos to the parade in East Hampton on Sunday morning — and Kris Warrenburg for getting us started.

My father, Joseph Giliberti, was in WWII in the 802 Tank Destroyer outfit under Patton. He was a tank commander but before tanks he was on motorcycles. Both him and his fellow soldiers tried to make a difference. The motto: "Death Before Dishonor" was tattooed on my father's arm.

My father was a surgeon who served in World War 11, the Korean War and during the
Vietnam War he volunteered to help the South Vietnames casualties of war in Can Tho.He was an inspiration as are all service men and women. God Bless all those past, present and future who serve so we may be free.
