Randi Zuckerberg, Mark Zuckerberg's sister and Facebook's marketing director, said that the most efficient way to stop cyber-bullying and other online abuses is to ban anonymity on the internet. The Huffington Post reported yesterday that Zuckerberg said people behave better when they have to use their real names.
Though some execs from other top websites, like Google, predict governments will eventually require users to use real identities, free speech advocates are against it. One advocate, Matthew Ingram of Gigaom, said that requiring people to use their real name would suppress discussion about important topics.
Do you use your real name online? On which sites is it appropriate to be anonymous? Let us know your opinion the comments.
