Letter: Don't Let Thiele Think He's King of the End End

Lynda Edwards, chairwoman of the East End Tea Party, is disappointed the Suffolk GOP wouldn't back Fred Thiele's challenger.

When news of , a groan went out from the South Fork. John J. LaValle is letting Thiele run unopposed? ? This just makes no sense

Fred Thiele has let us down with his flip flopping from party to party. He has not saved or created East End jobs or had a hand in reducing taxes. Residents are overburdened with taxes and our children have to move elsewhere to find jobs and affordable homes for their families.

There is a rising tide of discontent with incumbents, who seem to think they're invincible - thanks to spineless leadership at the local, state and national levels.  If we are not willing to support conservative young candidates as our candidates, who will be our future leaders?  Ninety year-old incumbents who don't know when to retire?  It is time for fresh ideas, enthusiastic energy and strong fiscal policies that the younger generation can bring.

OWS and others complain about too much money in campaigns, but sadly it takes money to run a campaign: transportation, media, ads and salaries all need to be paid for.  In addition, Republican and Conservative candidates do not have the unconditional support of the media that Democrats do, so it takes that much more money for those candidates to get their message out.   That said, given the chance to vote for another Abe Lincoln, who came up poor, as so many of our early leaders did, I believe most of us would get behind the new conservatives with necessary funding.

So, I am encouraging everyone to write in on the election ballot the name of Jeremy Brandt this November so that Fred Thiele doesn't continue to think he's King of the East End.
