A travesty

Personally, I *LOVE* that EH Village outlawed plastic shopping bags. I wonder, however, why/how Citarella continues to be allowed to give out plastic bags?  Someone said that it's because of the weight of the bags?  WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!  Plastic is plastic, it all ends up in our landfills, and much of it in our precious ocean.
On that note, I am hoping that Larry Cantwell for East Hampton Town Supervisor will bring that law to all of East Hampton Town. We are an Ocean Front community, we have the responsibility to set a precedence on proper respect for the environment on which we so dearly depend.  And on that note- PLEASE GET RID OF THE FRIGGIN' BALLOONS!!!!!!! I nearly DIED yesterday as I watched Town & Country Real Estate hand out HUNDREDS of balloons to all of the trick-or-treaters in Montauk Village. Convenient free advertising at the expense of our precious Ocean. OMG. What a travesty! I was sick to my stomach as I watched many of them go floating up into the sky. Please, say no to balloons. Teach your children responsibility for our Earth!  As residents here, we ALL depend on the Ocean in some way. It is our life, our lively hood - how can we allow this????
