BookHampton Owner Dies, Services Set for Thursday

Jeremy Nussbaum, 70, died in New York City on Tuesday.

Jeremy Nussbaum, an owner of and a resident of Amagansett, died in New York City on Tuesday after a short illness. He was 70.

A service will be held at the in East Hampton on Thursday at 11 a.m. A burial will follow at Shaaray Pardes Cemetery at 306 Old Stone Highway in East Hampton.

Riverside Memorial Chapel in New York City has handled the arrangements.

BookHampton locations in East Hampton, , and have been closed since Nussbaum's passing and will re-open on Friday, according to a recorded message on the machine at the East Hampton store.

An accomplished intellectual property attorney, Nussbaum owned the independent bookstore with his wife, Charline Spektor, who survives. They bought the small chain 12 years ago when the original owners retired.

He is also survived by two children, and Lily Claire.
