They Want to Put WHAT in My Corn Flakes? No Way!

How on earth can the USDA be approving deadly poisons in our food?

Ready to enjoy Agent Orange (2,4-D), in our GMO (genetically modified) corn flakes, chips, cereals, breads, and all things corn that we eat? This is the next phase of genetic engineering of corn plants, 2,4-D, an herbicide more deadly than herbicide RoundUp, which is now, failing due to weeds that have grown so resistant to it they are now called “superweeds.” A component of the deadly chemical, Agent Orange, used to defoliate Vietnam, (2,4-D) will be inserted into the DNA of corn cells so that when the plant is growing, every cell contains 2,4-D, so that it may be sprayed with 2,4-D, and not die. What happens to us when we eat foods made with these crops? Google a few of those images — infertility, reproductive disorders, deformities, are just for starters.

Do you believe you have the right to know if what you eat is GMO (aka GE, genetically engineered)? Want these food ingredients labeled? So do over 97 percent of Americans! Feb. 27, 2012 is the deadline for public comments on the 2,4-D GMO corn, so have your say today!

About 84 percent of the corn grown in the U.S. is GMO. About 90 percent of the soy grown here is too. Several U.S. states this year are considering GMO labeling bills, including a California initiative.

Meanwhile, many experimental GMO crop trials are, or have been, underway in Washington state, and Hawaii, for GMO apples, alfalfa, barley, beets, corn, safflower, sugar beet and wheat. For a list of trials, see www.isb.vt.edu/search-release-data.aspx and click the box "Location" for Washington, then "Submit."

What you can do in the meantime:

    1. Write your state reps to ask them to support bills like this in the next legislative session.
    2. Write your state senators to ask them to support bills like this in the next legislative session.
    3. Call your state reps to ask them to support bills like this in the next legislative session.
    4. Call your state senators to ask them to support bills like this in the next legislative session.
    5. Donate to the Organic Consumers Fund so we can reimburse the travel costs of supporters who couldn't otherwise have attended the hearings.
    6. Learn more and get involved at GMOFreeWashington.com.

These are bill numbers on GMO issues:  SB 6298/ HB 2637. Click here for an article correcting legislators' misconceptions on GMO facts.

Over 97 percent of American citizens want GMO’s labeled! Are you one of us?

Watch this Just Label It video, then take action by sending a letter to Congress. Ask your senators and representative to join Sen. Boxer and Rep. DeFazio in writing a letter to the Food & Drug Administration in support of the legal petition for labels on genetically engineered food.

Ask Congress to Support the Just Label It FDA Petition. Ask Them to Sign On to the Boxer-DeFazio Letter for GMO Labels

Hey Bill, Google up a little of this for yourself and YOU show ME YOUR research that proves otherwise. By the way, we all have to eat this whether or not we think it is good for us because there is no mandated labeling by law of GMO's in the USA, though 30 other nations mandate labeling these ingredients. If these are so safe, why no labeling? The way this technology works is: 2,4-D would be BOTH genetically inserted INTO the plant, AS WELL AS SPRAYED on the plant, so it would be a double whammy.

" It is food chemistry, not politics. " Marianne, not politics huh ? Let's start with you and your "Eatright.org"...it's affiliated with something called "Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics". If it's "not poilitics" how come this "Academy" has a political action committee called "ANDPAC" ? http://www.eatright.org/Media/content.aspx?id=6442467510 On to your cohort..."Why" does Kathleen give a website to contact, in this Patch "blog", above, that links to something called "Occupy Big Food" ? Here's Kathleen's Patch "Local Voices" "blog" titled under her name, "This Applies Only to Those of Us Who Eat Food" Posted on February 24, 2012 at 4:04 pm http://threevillage.patch.com/blog_posts/this-applies-only-to-those-of-us-who-eat-food Kathleen says here, "The Food Movement Speaks With one Voice: Occupy our Food Supply – International Actions Monday, February 27, 2012!" Above Kathleen asks readers, a couple of times, to contact a "Rep. Peter DeFazio" about her...ahem..."not politics" whatever. This is DeFazio's YouTube site, and a link to a video titled, "DeFazio on Occupy Wall Street and the future of this country".... http://youtu.be/hNNYWAZlCow How are you and Kathleen being "aided" and supported by the "Occupy Wall Street" Political Movement ? Money ? Information gathering ? "Volunteers" ? More importantly, share with readers "how" is Patch giving you "aid and comfort" to your...ahem..."not politics" Political Cause ?
