Save Time, Save Gas, Save a Life!

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc.
(ARF, www.arfhamptons.org) presents Long Island’s Best! A Pet Adoption & Agility Expo on Saturday, November 2, 2013. ARF is teaming up with other Long Island not-for-profit and municipal animal shelters, to promote cat and dog adoption on Long Island. All participating animal welfare organizations will be under one roof at the Riverhead Polish Hall, 214 Marcy Avenue from 11am-3pm.

“We want to make pet adoption as easy as possible,” say ARF’s Executive Director Sara Davison.  One stop shopping for puppies, kittens, adult dogs including great mutts and purebreds and beautiful cats representing the best shelter animals on Long Island will be available.  Joining ARF will be participating shelters including (list in formation): Kent Animal Shelter, North Fork Animal Welfare League. RSVP, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Over a hundred cats and dogs will be available for adoption. An agility course will be on premise for both cats and dogs to try. Agility courses are a great way to bond with your pet. The public might be familiar with dog agility, but cats love it too! Jill Archibald, agility coordinator for the Cat Fanciers' Association and a cat agility competitor will be on hand to demonstrate with her award-winning cats. All animals at the event are spayed/neutered and vaccinated to their age limit and checked by a veterinarian. Each animal will go home with a free collar and leash (dogs) and a cardboard carrier (cats). The Expo also includes refreshments and great giveaways, plus a Halloween Pet Costume Parade and Contest. Members of the public are encouraged to bring their pets in costume. Admission is free.
