Shelter From the Storm!

ARF is the emergency pet evacuation center for the Town and Village of East Hampton.

ARF was prepared for Hurricane Sandy to come onshore, serving as an emergency pet evacuation center for the Town and Village of East Hampton on Sunday and Monday, October 28 and 29 as the storm impacted the area.  ARF boarded 6 animals in total, free of charge, including 4 dogs and 2 cats that were brought to the adoption center by concerned citizens who had to evacuate their homes.  ARF took the opportunity to microchip one of the visiting dogs because microchipping is the best form of identification to reunite a lost pet with its owner.

We are now completely back up and running her at the ARF Adoption Center in Wainscott. Although we did not lose power we had no phones or internet access until late yesterday. All of the animals are safe and sound as we brace for more weather tomorrow. If you need to evacuate your home and can’t take your pet with you we are here for you! Please bring your animal to the ARF Adoption Center during regular business hours between 9am-5pm with food, an ID collar, leash and any medications your animal maybe on.

Seeing the destruction on television our hearts go out to all of you who didn’t fare as well. In coordination with East Hampton Town Animal Control, ARF donated travel kennels, cat carriers, dog and cat food, litter and blankets to be brought to the devastated area in the Rockaways and we are currently accepting donations of pet food to assist our local food pantries. You can drop off donations at the
ARF Adoption Center on Daniels Hole Road in Wainscott.
