ARF to Honor Bernadette Peters at Bow Wow Meow Ball

Presented for the First Time in ARF’s 39 Year History at the ARF Adoption Center, Bringing Together Animal Lovers for an Evening of Dinner and Dancing while Raising Funds for Cats and Dogs in Need.

On Saturday, August 17th the Animal Rescue Fund of The Hamptons (www.arfhamptons.org) will host the Bow Wow Meow Ball, an evening of dinner and dancing amidst the 22 acre ARF campus in Wainscott. Guests will enjoy a raw bar and cocktails, followed by dinner. Afterwards, the party will continue with dancing to music by Peter Duchin and his Orchestra. Over 300 high profile guests from New York and the Hamptons are expected to attend the magical night. All proceeds will benefit ARF, the leading animal adoption center on the East End of Long Island.

This special evening will honor Bernadette Peters, award winning stage and screen star, author and songwriter, as well as the co-founder of Broadway Barks. Broadway Barks has evolved into an event that not only focuses on the plight of homeless animals but had opened the door of communication and fostered a spirit of community among the numerous shelters and rescue groups working throughout New York. Their annual star-studded animal adoption event takes place in New York City’s famed Shubert Alley.  ARF has been a participant of Broadway Barks for many years. Legendary talk show host Dick Cavett will Emcee the evening and Beth Ostrosky Stern, author of “Oh My Dog” and host of Nat Geo Wild’s Spoiled Rotten Pets will present Bernadette with ARF’s Champion of Animals Award.

Most of ARF’s animals come from animal control centers, puppy mill rescue efforts, and from people who can no longer care for their pets. Each year ARF’s state-of-the-art Adoption Center admits over 1,000 dogs and cats and provides food, spaying and neutering services, bathing and grooming, a warm place to sleep, and excellent veterinary care. ARF also introduces human care and affection, exercise, and playing.  Once medically cleared and socialized the dogs and cats are put up for adoption at ARF to find new homes.  Since inception, ARF has rescued more than 20,000 cats and dogs and placed them with loving families.
