Planned Parenthood Van Drives to East Hampton Bowl Oct. 13

A free service, the van will offer information on everything from HIV to the Morning After Pill and condoms will be available.

We are looking forward to the arrival of the Planned Parenthood Van on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 3 to 7 p.m. at East Hampton Bowl.

The van will be here with information for all of the local teens and parents including screenings for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and answering any questions you may have from urinary tract infections to the morning after pill. Condoms will also be availble.

Local people have already positively addressed the van and East Hampton Bowl for helping to provide the service on the Facebook posting of the event.  I am personally thrilled that we can help provide this free service to the local community.

We will have many future upcoming benefits here including Adopt-A-Thons, something real special one coming up with the East Hampton Library, our continued work with The Retreat and other non-profits in the area.

i cant believe i just read this. sad, sad , sad. Just remember Ian, you would not be here if your mother was a fan of the morning after pill. Think about it.

and oh , by the way, who are the 'local people" and "local community" you speak about? Not us "locals", thats for sure.
Tony G September 29, 2012 at 01:20 AM
and free service, eh? Who pays for this service? Yeah, right.........are you buying the condoms? didn't think so.......

Hi Tony - Everyone has a belief, my only belief is having better educated children. I assure you my mother did not have me as a teenager and I would like to believe that education is a good thing. Why have children in school is education is wrong? The local community I speak of is on our Facebook page and my personal Facebook page. Hopefully Tony is you have kids still in school and IF sex was something they partake of I hope you are the one buying the condoms. Ian

I kept typing is instead of if....Sorry about that.

By the way, it strictly educational on the morning after pill Tony. Education has become more necessary as our children became more promiscuous.

Well my friend, I have been blessed to have 5 healthy and loving children. My wife and I and well educated, as are our children, and we are well aware of the real world out there, believe me. Education and the promotion of personal responsibility/irresponsibility are two very different things. As we all know, sex and poor judgement amongst teenagers ( and adults, for that matter) are a reality and such is life and has been for how many thousands of years. What we need to educate out children about is how to be responsible with their actions and how it may affect their lives, forever. By providing them with "easy" or perhaps "comfortable" options, such as what you suggest, is not education, but rather an "escape" route to their poor or unfortunate decisions. It's the old chicken and the egg theory. Educate your children BEFORE they become pregnant, not afterwards. As we know too well, it's never easy raising children, but we need to remind them of the results of their actions, not how to feign their responsibilities. As a younger man, I have also lived through the unfortunate experience of abortion and I can tell you firsthand that the human conscience can never justify or accept this as being a moral or acceptable choice, especiaily after having 5 "perfect" kids. I hope you are blessed someday to have children that are as perfect, by our creators choice, not yours or mine. Just some food for thought. And by the way, I will not be buying condoms for my kids. Peace Bro!

I say I hope you by them for safety reasons only. I can see how the statement could be misunderstood to mean something it doesn't.
Ian Grossman September 29, 2012 at 02:39 AM
Nicely said Tony. Unfortunately not every child has your guidance.
Tony G September 29, 2012 at 02:39 AM
Ian, I'm with you on the education part, 100%, it's just where and how. Sorry for my typos as well. i missed a few too..........
Tony G September 29, 2012 at 02:49 AM
I appreciate your feedback and we'll continue to be role models for all of the kids out there. Its' what we do as responsible parents..........
Ian Grossman September 29, 2012 at 03:09 AM
Thanks Tony!! All any of us can do is the best we can, sometimes a parent falls short, other times it's the wrong ring leader the pack follows. But the biggest thing that separates the best from the rest is never giving up on the kids. It is clear to me and I am sure anyone that reads the posts that you never will give up. I appreciate and respect your conviction.

Plant Parenthood receives over 50% of its income by convincing young women to pay for abortions. When you make 50% of your income killing babies, the educational material will surprisingly conclude that killing the baby is most likely the best choice and "whaddayaknow, we can do it just for you today at this low, low price!" This is a for profit abortion truck just like the ice cream truck or any other for profit concern - except dead babies are the product they sell. Government funding accounts for about 47% of Planned Parenthood's income. The tricks are for free. Let me better describe the money-laundering-for-murder scheme that is Planned Parenthood. Government confiscates your money. Tells you its for roads and bridges and will put you in prison if you don't pay (unless you are in congress). They then turn around and give it to Planned Parenthood who uses it to buy trucks and PR in an effort to perpetuate the concept to kill more babies. No dead babies, no upper management and no waking up to the fun money laundering murder truck in your neighborhood.

Nothing incurs more of a cost than those things that are ''free''.
Ian Grossman September 29, 2012 at 03:33 PM
Everything seems to be at some cost depending on who you speak to. I won't get into any kind of political debate as that leads to people just arguing with both sides making sense and the neither side seeing it. Teenage pormiscuity is a huge problem, not only in the Hampton's but everywhere. If we can educate a child, maybe get them to think twice about even having sex, protected sex if the child can't control themselves well enough to obstain, then i think this is a good thing. I don't agree with everything that any company does, but if something positive can come of the experience and a few children change a bad path they are going down, I think it's worth it. Sorry if you disagree.

Based on your comments here I'd say you're the most level-headed person on Patch. Keep up the good work!

Stinker I'm sorry but your statements are very ignorant.Abortions are legal in this Country.A woman decides to have one and does.Planned Parenthood performs many other services for women.Sometimes poor women who have no where else to turn. Thank you Planned Parenthood for your service.
Ian Grossman September 29, 2012 at 07:56 PM
