Where to Party for Halloween

From witches grog to haunted houses, there's more than just costume parties this Halloween.

Who said Halloween was just for trick or treating? If you have already planned an elaborate costume and are looking for some ghoulish fun, then head to one of these parties happening around Halloween. Instead of our usual "5 Picks," we gave you six. Enjoy.

1. TALKHOUSE FUN

The Stephen Talkhouse will host a Halloween Costume Party with prizes for the best costume, best of show, most original and more, on Oct. 26. Booga Sugar will perform. There will be drink specials (you must be 21 or older to attend). Fun starts at 10 p.m., admission is $20.

2. FIREHOUSE FRIGHT

The Amagansett Fire Department has a Halloween cocktail party scheduled for Oct. 27 between 7 and 10 p.m. DJ Rantin' & Raven' will spin some music and beer and wine will be served. Thank the antique truck committee for organizing the fun. Tickets are $25 each (and again, you must be 21 or older to purchase tickets).

3. HORROW-WEEN

B. Smith's in Sag Harbor always throws a Halloween bash. The "True-ly Blood-y Horrow-ween Party" on Oct. 27, features DJ Karin Ward. The best costume gets a $500 prize. The party goes from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., and the cover is $25. You can RSVP on Facebook.

4. HAUNTED HOUSE

A Halloween Costume Party will be held at "The Dark Mansion Haunted House" at La Maison Blanche Hotel & Restaurant on Shelter Island on Oct. 27, starting at 9 p.m. The haunted house is open Friday through Sunday, starting Oct. 19 and ending Oct. 28, from 7 to 10 p.m. It's $15 to go through it. A portion of the proceeds go to breast cancer research.

5. THE END IS HERE

Solé East Resort & The Backyard Restaurant in Montauk are having one celebration before closing for the 2012 season. The Halloween Closing Party will take place Saturday at 8 p.m. Guests will enjoy free bar food, "witches grog," special entertainment and musical acts. Winner of the “Best Costume” contest will receive a free weekend stay. Admission to the party is free. Rooms are specially priced at $89 for the night.

6. ROWDYWEEN

The 13th annual “Rowdyween” Party at Rowdy Hall in East Hampton is the only party we could find that's happening on Halloween itself — Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. The $30 cover charge earns you a complimentary drink, passed hors d’oeuvres, drink specials, an $5 drafts and $5 well drinks. A DJ will play music. There will be $500 in prizes awarded for the best costumes. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $25 at http://www.eventbrite.com/s/b1Be.
