'Bracelets for Breast Cancer' Results in $2,500 Donation to Southampton Hospital

East Hampton High School students donate funds to Ellen Hermanson Breast Center.

Three East Hampton High School students recently donated $2,500 in support of the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital.

Throughout October, Shannon Ryan, Trevor Mott, and Thomas Brierley sold pink leather bracelets that they call Bracelets for Breast Cancer.

Originally the lifelong friends, who are all on the varsity swim teams, wanted to make the bracelets to raise money for their teams. When they realized they didn't quite need the extra money, they thought it would be a way of doing something for the community, they told East Hampton Patch back in October.

The bracelets were a hit, and they continually sold out of them at lunch and during swim meets.

"It is a testament to the students' hard work and dedication to this cause that they were able to make this larger donation," East Hampton High School principal Adam Fine said on Tuesday.
