Tumbleweed Tuesday & Electioneering

So Tumbleweed Tuesday came and went like a summer breeze comes and goes.

Our kids are still home from the summer va-ca that would never end.  I had hoped that work would stay chill for a spate longer.  After all, pre-season, everyone wanted their websites up and running before the craziness started and I nearly died of exhaustion in June.  But of course we must run on empty - aren't we all supposed to appreciate the summer folks, those part-time neighbors whom apparently keep us alive and unlike Patchogue

What unfolded this week was a kick in the head.

I received no less than 4 requests for new websites and two ad designs, all of which required meetings on Friday from 9 am until 8 pm taking me from Amagansett to Bridgehampton to Southampton.  Not sure why, but perhaps anticipation for next season might be already afoot.

The most exciting news is that I will be making the new website for Southampton Town Supervisor, Anna Throne-Holst.  I have always been a fan.  We discussed the upcoming election over Greek salads (her suggestion - did she know I was Turkish and LOVED Greek salad!?!?!) and plotted out her new upcoming fabulous website.  I AM STOKED beyond belief to be working with such an amazing modern woman who has seen Southampton into surplus (while here, in East Hampton, we continue to hang on to what's left of our dignity in the crumbling Middle-Class of the East End).

It helps that her opponent's website is God-awful from a design standpoint and every sentence is a run-on so long that it hurts.  It shouldn't be difficult to show Anna's professionalism with my high-end design experience.  I always try to see my clients through to success and admiring my clients helps in the journey that is their website design and development.  Whether they are a restauranteur, construction company or landscaper, it helps that they are people that have an entrepreneurial spirit and hard-working ethic.  It also helps that my client is not on youtube a million times for drunk driving

On another note, I'm thinking about teaching Photoshop and beginner web design again.  I wonder, now that the college is not offering adult-education anymore, if there is a venue for me to do so.  Thoughts?

Before I forget, I just wanted to give a shout out to you wonderful people I have watched on my drives to appointments and meetings all summer that I saw jogging.  For usually, the joggers are stick-figures that leave me baffled by their drive to exercise when they've no need to lose weight.  I know.  I know.  It makes them feel great and is healthy, but still, it always made me feel somewhat inadequate because I never had time for my runs this summer.  I was left breathless by all of the people who were out of shape and some that were outright obese jogging.  Men.  Women.  Teens.  Of all ages.  Breathless, in admiration and awe, I could hear myself say, "Good for you!"  "Go, Girl!"  "You rock!"  You know who you are... You are my heroes.  You're doing it.  I really admired you all...  and was very inspired.

Tumbleweed Tuesday was short-lived, and the economy appears to be coming back.  It might be time to put summer behind us and gear up for electioneering, film festivals and autumnal festivities.  Driving by the pumpkin patches makes summer feel a million miles away already.
