WILL ST. LUKE’S CHURCH DROWN ITS MINISTER?

East Hampton, NY --- Churchgoers rarely want to drown their
ministers, and the congregation of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Hampton
is no exception. In fact, they rather like their minster who has agreed to be
dunked and dunked and dunked again at the church’s fair on July 6. Why has he
agreed to such a repeated soaking? Because fair goers will have to pay dearly
for the privilege of watching the Reverend Denis Brunelle dunked and doused,
and the money will all go to a worthy cause.

Not only will the Reverend Brunelle be dunked, but so will East Hampton’s Mayor Paul
F. Rickenbach, Jr. This may be the most exhilarating two-for during the
entire summer. After all, how often can one witness a secular political leader
and a religious leader dunked in a large tub of water?

As one parishioner said, “This is an opportunity of a
lifetime for me. And I’m prepared to back up my statement with a generous
donation to St. Luke’s.”

Added  Reverend
Brunelle: “Have you ever wished you could dunk a
rector, priest, minister or pastor ? At our summer fair, everyone can have that
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

One may also see several local celebrities who are prepared
to dunk the minister and the mayor. Year after year, the fair has attracted some
of the East End’s best known personalities, and organizers of this summer’s
fair expect an even bigger turn-out of marquee names.

The St. Luke’s Summer Family Fair will be held on Saturday,
July 6th, from 11 AM to 3 PM. It will be an old-fashioned, fun-generating
fair for the entire community. There will be music, carnival-style activities,
games face painting, pony rides, raffles for kids’ toys, and great summer-fair
foods: hot dogs, burgers, clams, cotton candy, pop corn, lemonade and much
more.

(Editor: Please see attached photo of Reverend Denis
Brunelle, preparing to be dunked).
