For those who love symphonic concerts, this is a rare opportunity to see the late Claudio Abbado conduct an unrivaled interpretation of Mahler's Symphony No 2 (Resurrection) in C minor. A live screening of this performance will be held at Guild Hall on Saturday, April 19, 2014. The program is enriched with a guest lecture before the concert by Mahler expert and conductor Gilbert Kaplan. Kaplan has recorded Mahler’s Second Symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmoic and edited the new critical edition of the Second Symphony. When Claudio Abbado and his Lucerne Festival Orchestra perform at the Lucerne Festival, the whole musical world looks to Lucerne. The 120 musicians or "best friends" are also renowned soloists or important players in many leading orchestras and ensembles. Featuring Eteri Gvazava, Anna Larsson, and Orfeón Donostiarra. Tickets online at GuildHall.org or at Box Office 3 hours prior to curtain; theatermania.com; or 1.866.811.4111.
