Saturn: Lord of the Rings
Saturn is the most distant planet clearly visible to the naked eye. Yet four hundred years after it was discovered, Saturn's breath-taking rings remain a mystery. How were they formed, what are they made of, and how long all they last? In this spectacular lecture, Dr. Mike Inglis, Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at SCCC, will take you on a guided tour of Saturn, its rings, and its many moons, presenting the latest results from space missions along with new images and films of the ringed planet. Following the lecture, weather permitting, we'll do stargazing using 2 telescopes from 8:30-9:30PM. For ages 9-90. Register in advance: 267-3810
