Community Corner

Haiti in the Hamptons

Join us in celebrating the women artisans from the Discover Haiti exhibition. Four of the artisans will be joining us in-person this weekend: Caroline Sada of Ayiti Natives, Pascale Theard of Pascale Theard Creations, Paula Coles of Paula | Coles Haiti and Shelley Clay of The Apparent Project. All four women have a mission to give back to their communities with projects that intertwines philanthropy and commerce.

Festivities begin with an opening reception on Friday, Aug. 16 (5PM-7PM) at Urban Zen Sag Harbor, followed by a trunkshow on Saturday, Aug. 17 (12PM-5PM).  Enjoy this unique opportunity to meet them and learn about their passions, their communities, and the stories behind the pieces they've designed.

The Discover Haiti exhibition, a partnership with Nomad Two Worlds, has been traveling around the world, with showings at Berlin, London, Miami, New York, and Washington, DC. Through the exhibition, Urban Zen and Donna Karan together with Nomad Two Worlds have collaborated with designers, artists and filmmakers to present the potential of Haiti's creativity to a wider consumer and design base both nationally and internationally. The project promotes economic development by supporting artists through a program that emphasizes the beauty of their gifts and the wisdom of their culture.
