Gallery Talk with Frank Wimberley

Frank Wimberley will give a gallery talk as part of FIESTA, a free afternoon of family activities. All are welcome! Frank Wimberley, winner of the 72nd Annual Guild Hall Artist Members Exhibition (2010), was selected by Ben Gennochio, former art critic for The New York Times and current Editor in Chief of Art & Auction Magazine. A noted Abstract painter, Wimberley has been a part-time Sag Harbor resident for the last 40 years. He has exhibited widely both on the East End and in New York City. Wimberley’s work incorporates an exciting use of color, gesture and form to create canvases that are heavily textured and layered. Wimberley is esteemed for his masterful abstractions, in which he translates his responses to material, texture, light, and color into powerful visual experiences. Using unusual manipulations of his materials, he creates works that demonstrate his belief in the unlimited possibilities of abstraction as a driving force. On view through January 6, 2013.
