Running to Fight Breast Cancer
Southampton, NY --- It has pledgedmore than a million dollars for the Ellen Hermanson Breast Cancer Center at
Southampton Hospital. As a result, the Center has tripled its size. It has
pledged more than $200,000 for a 3D mammography machine at Southampton
Hospital. It makes sure that no woman, regardless of financial means or
insurance, is ever turned away from the Center. This hard-charging, grass-roots,
committed charity, devoted to all women with breast cancer, is the Ellen
Hermanson Foundation. And it is sponsoring the 18th annual Ellen’s
Run, a 5K run or walk on Sunday, August 18. It will commence, rain or shine, at
9 AM at Southampton Hospital’s Parrish Hall on Herrick Road.
Day-of-race registration is $40. Pre-registration is available for $30 at www.ellensrun.org and at Parrish Hall from 9:30
am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, August 17. Pre-registration for children and
seniors is $25. Participants are encouraged to collect pledges from friends and
family to help raise funds for the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton
Hospital and breast cancer patient support services. Runners can wear signs
that read, “I am running in memory of …” or “I am running in honor of …”
