Come to League of Women Voters East Hampton Candidates Debate

To enable voters
to hear the candidates and question them about important issues in the November
5 general election, the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons will be
sponsoring two debates—one in East Hampton and one in Southampton.

Format consists of
the candidates making timed opening and closing statements and answering
questions submitted by a panel of local media editors and the League, as well
as by the audience

Available at each
debate will be a New York State League of Women Voters free brochure of pro and
con information on the six statewide ballot issues.

The first debate, on Monday, October 21, 7 p.m. at the East Hampton Emergency Services Building on the corner of Cedar Street and North Main St., will be moderated by LWV Voter Services co-chair Anne Marshall. It includes Suffolk County Legislature candidates Christopher Nuzzi (R) vs. Jay Schneiderman (I), followed by the four candidates running for two seats on the East Hampton Town Board—Kathee Burke-Gonzalez (D), Fred Overton (R), Job Potter (D) and Dominick Stanzione (R).

Larry Cantwell, the unopposed East Hampton Town Supervisor candidate, will introduce himself but not debate. Candidates for other offices on the November ballot are also invited to introduce themselves by name and the office for which they are running.

The debate will be videotaped by LTV for later viewing on East Hampton Town’s Channel 20.

The League is also sponsoring a Southampton Town Candidates Debate on Thursday, October 24, 7 p.m. at Rogers Memorial Library.

Further
information on both debates is available from Ms. Marshall at 631-324-4637.
