Boating with the Baymen: Working the Waters

Long Island Traditions is sponsoring a sunset cruise with commercial fishermen and baymen from the waters of New Bedford, MA and Montauk/East End communities on Saturday, May 17 from 4-7 pm.  The cruise will take place on board the Viking Superstar.  There will be stories told by traditional fishermen of the dangers they face, the impact of regulations, and stories of their adventures and experiences.  Also joining the cruise will be maritime singers Susan and Steve Sanfilippo of Southold, whose songs are based on diaries written by Long Island fishermen and baymen.  The program will also feature LI Commercial Fishing Association executive director Bonnie Brady, LI Traditions' director Nancy Solomon, and New Bedford's Working Waterfront festival director Laura Orleans.  The cost will be $40/adult and $20/for those under age 16.  Stay tuned for details and reservations at Long Island Traditions web site.
