Whiz Kid of the Week: Nicole Frank Leads by Example at Project MOST

This week's Whiz Kid is a positive role model for younger students after-school.

Name, age: Nicole Frank, 16

School:

Accomplishment: Known as a stand-out Youth Leader at , she was also named to the National Art Honor Society.

Key To awesomeness: At a young age, Nicole Frank is pursuing her passions for art and teaching, while giving back to the community and keeping her grades high.

A counselor at the Project MOST after-school program at the , she works with kindergarteners, helps students with their homework, plays games with them, and reads to them. She tends to help set up sports games such as soccer. Recently, she helped set up a program for the students to learn karate.

Tim Bryden at Project MOST said, "Her work with students at John Marshall is helping children have a very positive role model while she leads them through an afternoon of enrichment activities and academic support."

A high school senior, she has always taken art classes and is now in an advanced placement studio art class. She said she has been influenced by her mother who has always been interested in art.

Despite working 15 hours a week with the younger students, she has proven excellence academically and athletically as well. She is on the Varsity Lacrosse team and tends to take AP classes usually landing on the honor roll or high honor roll.

She also took part in a State Farm film that aired on LTV, the local television channel. A public service announcement, the film informed teens to drive safely when it comes to drinking and driving, using cellphones while driving, and more. 

Although, she takes part in many activities her true passions are art and teaching. She hopes to apply them to her future, in college and beyond.
