On this last day before Hurricane Irene hits New York, here's what you need to know.

  • First, here's a list of to keep with you, including medical, utilities, and town assistance.
  • The East Hampton Town Board is having a on Saturday and it will focus on possible evacuation so as to inform residents and visitors. The meeting will be broadcast live on LTV.
  • East Hampton Village officials are meeting on Saturday morning at 8 a.m., to take one last look at Irene's path an strength before deciding on the possible evacuation of low-lying areas.
  • The Red Cross shelter at opens at about 10 a.m.
  • The will open this morning (time to be determined), staffed by the Montauk Fire Department Ladies Auxillary. 
  • If you have pets that need shelter, the town animal control department will set up to board them at the playhouse. Room is on a first-come, first serve basis.
  • If the town declares a state of emergency, the will all be a for cats and dogs owned by town residents.

  • Highway Superintendent Scott King said: "It would be very helpful if the public would refrain from sight seeing during and after the storm. This would help emergency personnel do their jobs safely without interruption."
