Politics

SUPERVISOR RACE STILL UNDECIDED: A commissioner at the Board of Elections said on Friday that as of 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Republican Supervisor Bill Wilkinson holds a 177-vote lead over Democratic challenger Zach Cohen, though Democrats sent nearly 200 more absentee ballots in. The race could well come down to the 132 absentee voters who are unaffiliated with either party. We'll know more on Monday, so stay tuned.

TOWN ADDS TO 2012 CONTINGENCY FUND BEFORE ADOPTING BUDGET; COULD BENEFIT PROJECT MOST: Before adopting the 2012 budget, the East Hampton Town Board made a couple slight changes to Wilkinson's proposed budget,, namely charities. Project MOST could be the recipient of up to $20,000 of this next year, as it struggles to keep afloat after losing $60,000 in state funding.

Police/Fire

FIRE MARSHAL: DOGS CAUSED RESIDENTIAL FIRE: After a fire last week , East Hampton Town Fire Marshal Dave Browne said on Monday that The two dogs - who died in the blaze - are believed to have attempted to grab some cupcakes sitting on top of a stovetop, which Brown believes started the fire.

5 FIREFIGHTERS INJURED IN HAMPTON MARKET PLACE BLAZE: In a Tuesday night fire that , five firefighters were hospitalized. Fire Chief Ray Harden though none were treated for skin burns. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

EAST HAMPTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ARSON: Christopher S. Ward, of East Hampton, . The charges stem from a May 2010 incident involving an East Hampton Village home at which he was arrested for allegedly squatting; three firefighters were injured while fighting the fire.
