Water Main Breaks in Village Wednesday Night

A water main break in East Hampton Village on Wednesday evening may result in a delayed opening at the East Hampton Middle School on Thursday morning.

What caused the break and the exact location of the break were not immediately known, but school officials said it may impact the middle school, which is located on Newtown Lane in the heart of the village.

East Hampton School Superintendent Rich Burns said he will send out a message on Thursday morning between 6 and 6:30 if the middle school will have a delayed opening. "Please be prepared for the delay in the event the water authority has not, yet, resolved the issue," he said in an email Wednesday night.

All other schools in the East Hampton School District will open on-time with a normal schedule, he said.
