in East Hampton Village was roaring and bring big waves to the shore. A dozen people gathered at the sand's edge to watch the effects of Hurricane Irene at the coast. The beaches had already been closed for hours, so people stood at the police tape taking in the sights and smell of a storm about to arrive.
