The Retreat, After-School Programs Among Charities Chosen for Music Festival Donanation

Music To Know festival promised a $100,000 donation and will divide up among over 20 local charities.

Over 20 charities have been chosen a recipients of the promised $100,000 donation as part of the Music To Know Festival slated for August in Wainscott.

They include , , several food pantries and learning places for children, , memorial funds for the late and .

MTK organizers Bill Collage and Chris Jones have already written checks and made the donation to the charities as well as thrown in some extra perks.

"To support the local community hosting the festival, charities have been given space on the site to promote themselves, encourage further donations and to get people involved," according to a statement from the organizers.

The festival will be held on Aug. 13 and 14 at the , with respectively.

“Our charity goal at MTK is to give back to our community by funding local organizations and projects with the greatest potential to make a difference and save lives in the shortest period of time," said Collage.

"We want to put our dollars towards organizations who continue to make a significant impact on the East End,” he said.

“Not only is it important to assist our community in its continued service to its residents, but we are also proud to provide grants to the cultural and educational endeavors of our local community,” Jones said.

While there are a few more to be announced, the charities chosen already are:

  • : A domestic violence shelter, which provides safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse.
  • : An independent, nonprofit organization that that provides alcohol and drug treatment in East Hampton and Wainscott.
  • East Hampton Day Care Center: A not-for-profit, which provides year-round early education for over 100 children.
  • : An after school program that engages children in extended learning activities.
  • East End Hospice: A New York State Certified Hospice, providing an individualized plan of care for terminally ill patients.
  • : A center for food collection, storage and distribution, to reach out to those in need.
  • : A Food Pantry based at the . 
  • Sag Harbor Food Pantry: 
  • Wainscott Food Pantry: A Food Pantry based at the . 
  • Katy’s Courage: A fund to assist young and her family with financial needs in caring for her while she battled liver cancer.
  • Amagansett Life Saving Station
  • Joseph J. Theinert Foundation: In the memory of the Army lieutenant from Shelter Island who died in Afghanastan in 2010.
  • CMEE: A children’s museum where young people can visit to stir their curiosity and imagination.
  • : A not-for-profit regional theater presenting new, classic and contemporary works, with a
  • : A child day care center, senior nutrition center, adult day care center, fitness center and physical therapy practice.
  • : An animal shelter for cats and dogs.
  • U4 Vets: A local veterans fund, part of American Legion, which is the nation’s largest veterans service organization.
