Southampton Hospital's First Baby of the Year Belongs To Montauk

Yael was born Jan. 1 at 6:06 p.m.

He may not be the first baby of the new year, but the first birth certificate marked Jan. 1, 2013 at Southampton Hospital belongs to a baby boy named Yael, a new Montauk resident.

Born at 6:06 p.m.to mother, Isabel Mediavilla and father, Joel Abreul Waltham, of Montauk, Yael Abreul weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. and was 19.25 inches long, according to hospital spokeswoman Marsha Kenny.

Yael was born 18 hours after the first baby born in New York, Olivia, who arrived at midnight at New York Hospital Queens to parents Rosemary Espinal and Freddy Pena, according to PIX 11.
