Snow in Store for East Hampton Monday

There is a chance of snow showers in the afternoon on Martin Luther King Day, and snow is likely in the evening.

There is a great likelihood that the Town of East Hampton will receive some snowfall by Monday night — in fact, snow is in the forecast all week, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service states that there is a chance of snow showers in the area mainly after 4 p.m. Monday, with the high temperature reaching only 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

The likelihood of snowfall grows during the night, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation, as the temperature dips to around 25 degrees. There could be as much as 3 and a half inches of snow on the ground before Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service warns that there could be hazardous weather conditions on eastern Long Island roads during the week.

Snow showers may continue on Tuesday morning, and the National Weather Service's seven-day forecast states that snow is possible, but not likely, on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday may bring both snow and rain.
