Question of the Day: What Do You Think About Extending the Dock?

A 149-foot dock, which received approval for an extension in June, could stay its current size if a lawsuit proves successful.

The Concerned Citizens of Montauk, a civic organization, announced this past week that it is to extend a 149-foot dock in Lake Montauk by another 15 feet.

The lawsuit alleges that an environmental review should have taken place before coming to a conclusion on the dock, which is the longest residential dock on the lake.

The defendant's lawyer says a longer dock is needed because during low tide, it's difficult to maneuver boats up to the dock due to shallow water.

What do you think about this situation? Do you think an environmental review should be done? Do you think it should have been flat out rejected? Or was the ZBA correct in granting approval?
