No Shelter Information Available Just Yet

Once they are deemed necessary, announcements will be made to the public.

While you may be curious what your options are, should you need to go to a shelter during Hurricane Sandy in a few days, a shelter list is not yet available.

East Hampton Village Police Captain Mike Tracey said his department is already getting calls from residents looking to find out information about available shelters.

"Shelter information is not available at this time," he said. The locations are decided based on the area's need and they are selected from a list of possible locations once it has been determined there's an expectation for them, he said. Plans are then implemented to staff them and then the locations will be announced to the public.
