March 25: East Hampton Activist will Receive Award, Census Data Comes In, and 'La Bella Vita' Wine Dinner Served

Here's what you should know about Friday.

No snow on Friday, folks. Great news in my book. It still feels like winter, but it will be sunny with temperatures reaching the low 40s. Let's hope for nice weather heading into our weekend.

1. Assemblyman Fred. W. Thiele Jr. (I-Sag Harbor) will discuss the proposed tax cap legislation at a special on Friday evening at 7 p.m. The entire East Hampton community has been invited to attend.  

2. Dark Sky advocate Susan Harder will receive the Sierra Club’s 29th Annual Long Island Environmentalist of the Year Award on Saturday at the Suffolk County Environmental Center at the Scully Estate in Islip. Congratulations to one of East Hampton's own and keep up the good work.

3. Complete Census data for 2010 came out on Thursday. We'll be taking a look at what the numbers mean over the next few days, so stay tuned.

4. Yoga Shanti Lakashmi in Sag Harbor will host a twice every week as part of the Yoga Shanti Teacher Training program. Participants can make a donation for the Friday evening class at 7:30.

5. On Friday night at the , the ' will be served. It's a four-course wine dinner, A Night of Organic & Biodynamic Wines from Benchmark Italian Producers, with a fantastic menu.
