Joe Biden Hits the Hamptons, Causes Delays on Roads

Traffic diverted and backed up on Montauk Highway and County Road 39 in Water Mill and Southampton.

Vice President Joe Biden arrived on the South Fork on Friday for a fundraiser to support the re-election of President Obama — and plenty of people took notice.

Patch received reports of heavy traffic in Southampton and Water Mill as the vice president's motorcade prepared to drive through both towns toward Bridgehampton, where the fundraiser was being held.

The FAA placed  beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and ending on Saturday at 1 a.m., though the vice presiden seemed to have arrived around 5 p.m.

One person on Twitter told us that Biden's plane landed at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton on Friday morning around 9:45 a.m. We wonder what he did in the interim. . .

Did you see Biden's motorcade on Friday? Did you get held up in traffic? Tell us in the comments below.

Amazing that they hit that 30% wrong every single time !!!!

It scary how stupid the people are that we put in charge of running this country.

I don't know jaguar -guy but I know I dislike his mean-spiritedness. If you represent the 1%, you are not doing them any favors. Try being nice, it might get you a lot farther in life although from your comments you appear to believe you are already there and don't give a damn about anyone else. Are your holdings off-shore, too? Did you pay little tax too? Do you favor CEOS of large companies making more than their companies paid in US taxes, too? Will you kill medicare for the needy, too? Will you reduce what is left of the middle class, too? will you favor the rich and forget the needy, too? Will you work to remove hard-won women's rights and intefere in their health care decisions, too? will you see hard-working familes lose thier homes so banks can make even more money, too? I could go on and on
Jaguar-Guy August 25, 2012 at 01:39 PM
I've asked above that if Biden/Obama hate the 1%, why is Joe out here seeking their money ?? p.s. I do not ever call people names - or ever use "liberal, communist, socialist, etc." - MB, Hazel and Mo use horrible language and call people "lunatic, tea-bag, zombie, bath-salt, etc.".

Didn't see the motorcade but saw Bill walking a dog on the beach near his rental & on the first green at Maidstone. His approach shot was on the green & I think he made the putt! Can't believe how thin he is! Hadn't seen him except on TV since he came here that summer of whatever year it was.
hamptons338 August 25, 2012 at 03:16 PM
More pollution for the Hamptons!!
Jaguar-Guy August 25, 2012 at 03:38 PM
That is a difficult Par 4. Must have had a great 2nd to the green.

You guys are amazing, didnt you see on tv when the President and him where on together and he slapped the VP a 20 and told him to go spend a couple of months in Southampton.
Artie August 26, 2012 at 12:00 AM
It is amazing how everyone is so against the 1%. Doesn't anyone realize that the 1% are the same people who employ the other 99%. It is their investment and ingenuity that are responsible for our economy and the reason that there is jobs growth in the first place. The politicians are mostly all 1% ers also. Show me a politician who can't pay his or her mortgage or us on food stamps. And if a politician is by chance middle class then that changes very quickly. As silly as it was rent or see "the Distinguished Gentleman" with Eddie Murphy. That is really how politics works, who can pay to get the changes that he or she needs to get a head. If either of the campaigns just donated 10% of the money that they blow on these polititical commercials and their elections that money alone could feed the cations homeless for an entire month.
North Fork Bob August 26, 2012 at 01:46 AM
Biden is part of the 1% 2 sides of the same coin both slaves of the banks and major corporations. We're becoming obsolete except for our children who they need as cannon fodder.
North Fork Bob August 26, 2012 at 01:48 AM
JFK thought he was President it's one of the reasons he was killed
North Fork Bob August 26, 2012 at 01:56 AM
Artie you are going to recommend a movie to show us how politics works? That makes me totally discount everything else you have to say. It's utter trash anyway
Jack August 26, 2012 at 02:31 AM
Don't forget to add the head of each of the unions as 1% . They are all making serious six figure incomes. FYI the head of the teachers union make about a half million a year. All the others like the teamsters and allyhe "Trades"union presidents are making over 10 times the lowest paid union members. They are.not worth half that money.
Artie August 26, 2012 at 04:23 AM
Bob, I'm not suggesting that a movie explains everything just that all polititions make money off their position as they have done for centuries. I personally know someone in office who over the last 12 years is 10 times as wealthy as when they got elected. Do super packs sound familiar. In closing, it doesn't matter who is in office, how many protests go on, how many investigationstake place the lobbiests make tons of money doing what they do best, influence and the money that changes hands to buy that influence will always continue no matter who is in charge. On occasion a few people get far too greedy and wind up in jail but funny how their money never gets taken away from them.
the owl August 26, 2012 at 12:18 PM
Artie has it ALMOST right ".... the 1% are the same people who employ the other 99%. It is their investment and ingenuity that are responsible for our economy..." yes, people who put their ingenuity to work dodging taxes, and stash personal savings and company profits outside the USA are in large part responsible for the mess in our economy...those whose greed brought about a near collaspse of the global banking system yet continue to fire up the stock market so small investors will plunk hard-earned dollars in an inflated market, in the hope of getting a decent return, unaware that those who rig the market will ensure stocks plummet---after the 1%ers pull out of course. Joe Average cannot win. 1%ers have the game rigged. Where is the merit in supporting tax dodgers? Jail time would be more appropriate. Why should CEOs of some international companies make more money than their companies pay in US taxes? Why burden struggling middle and growing lower classes with taxes when 1%ers pay as little personal tax as Romney 13%---some pay less. There are multiple reasons Romney won't show his taxes (Trump should publicize that not rant about Obama's birth certificate). Current Republicans policies don't represent or respect average Americans; their current policies will bring only increased wealth to tax dodgers and corporations and bury the rest in debt and misery for decade . They are enjoying a grand old party while many struggle just to hold on their homes.
Jaguar-Guy August 26, 2012 at 01:20 PM
How come Obamas Wall Street Czar - Jon Corzine is NOT in jail ?? Because he is a Bundler for Obama ?? Why hasn't ONE SINGLE PERSON been prosecuted for the Wall Street collapse - like Obama promised. Why hasn't one single terrorist been tried yet ?? Obama and Holder were DYING to have the trials in NYC - Dying to shove that down our throats.
Jaguar-Guy August 26, 2012 at 01:24 PM
Thank you Bob.
the owl August 26, 2012 at 03:09 PM
The money sitting off-shore would come close to settling the national debt amassed since Clinton left office by---well, Republican administrations. Why haven't the tax dodgers been harassed by the IRS???? I could go on......
Artie August 26, 2012 at 06:42 PM
Thanks for understanding my point. For the record Im not talking about the hedgefunds and derivative traders, that's all a scam. The 1% era that I respect are the corporate owners and CEO's that run the textile, media, agriculture, consumer goods and auto companies. They are the people that are our nations employment engine. Sure they look for loopholes in taxes but they do reinvest a lot of that back in to their products sectors to further expansion and their wallets.
Artie August 26, 2012 at 06:49 PM
Also I know that their is a lot if out sourcing but if things loosen up for companies to stay here I'm sure that they would. Everything is so expensive sometimes you can't blame them. Tax incentives will create jobs by allowing companies to stay here. Their is so much vacant land in the middle of the country that could be utilized for our Nations corporations that could fuel huge U.S. corporate growth if incentives were given and keep our jobs here.
Diane Sadowski August 26, 2012 at 07:06 PM
And may I add? ... that the republican 1% took the "American Dream" away from those who wipe their butts, studied hard, and paid for an education to skillfully take care of them when they are sick, build their roads for their businesses to operate effectively, work hard an long difficult hours to protect & heal them. All this!! ONly to find out that this Republican 1% takes it all for granted and think that they are entitled to the hard work of others. That is the "OUT OF TOUCH" that Romney just cant seem to understand. Just got back from Tampa where I asked the SECRET SERVICE if they knew why they were there. It is because there are so many Republicans surrounded by so much water, there is fear that the will all go "skinny dipping".
John Sasso August 27, 2012 at 01:09 PM
correct Mike! "I could care less..he's an idiot"
Katy Casey August 27, 2012 at 02:03 PM
Six figure incomes do not constitute the 1%. Ten times the salary is considered an appropriate ratio. CEO's truly of the 1% make on average 850% the salary of their lowest paid employees. Titans do not create jobs, industry creates jobs. This country is rapidly losing its product; if there is no product or service the economy is unsustainable. The 1% is not earning a six figure salary, the 1% is puling seven to eight figures annually. Six figures is only the top of the middle.
Jaguar-Guy August 27, 2012 at 02:28 PM
Hey Owl, Romney does not pay INCOME tax because he has no job. He pays Capital Gains tax on the money he already earned which was ALREADY taxed. Can't you understand this SIMPLE concept. Warren Buffett pays the same amount - which is why he pays less taxes %-wise, than his secretary. Oh, BTW he is another Obama advisor who has not paid his taxes since 2001 - and is STILL fighting with the IRS. You're quite ill-informed.
the owl August 27, 2012 at 03:01 PM
I thrive on this political stuff. keep at it fellas, I know you have a lot of anger and so some good rants must come out of this. That's when true colors are outed. Keep ranting folks, its great grist for the Dems mill. The more rants the better, I know you have so much to say.. Jaguar guy but to get to me You'll have to pick on an Independent....
Preliator August 27, 2012 at 03:40 PM
So you think the government should just seize people's money just because they don't like where they keep it?
