Hamptons Weekend Agenda: Meet Alan Alda, Take in Cirque Hamptons, See Kenny Loggins

And, of course there's fireworks. After all, it's Fourth of July in the Hamptons.

It's July Fourth Weekend and that means there's even more than usual to do on the South Fork of Long Island. While you could just lay around all day on the beach, we suggest checking out some of these events, from an outdoor movie in East Hampton Village to a book signing with Alan Alda in Bridgehampton, Kenny Loggins on stage in Westhampton to fireworks just about everywhere. 

EAST HAMPTON

"Trojan Women Redux" dance theatre continues at , 10 James Lane, East Hampton in Friday with a show at 7 p.m., and shows on Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door and viewers can bring a blanket for a picnic outdoors.

Watch the classic flick with your family outdoors on the big screen at , 10 James Lane in East Hampton, on Friday at 8:30 p.m. Presented by and the East Hampton Historical Society, admission is $5 unless you’re under 5; then it’s free.

The second annual Swim Across America Hamptons on Saturday at  Amagansett, benefits Fighting Chance, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Children's Hospital Montefiore and Cold Spring Harbor Labratory. Starting at 6 a.m., half-mile, one-mile and 5K swims will be held in Gardiner's Bay. Awards and an evening beach BBQ to follow. 

Friends of the 32nd Annual Book Fair takes place on The Plaza Green in Montauk on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A gathering of some of the greatest independent artists from the national show circuit, will be exhibited at the American Legion Post #419, 15 Montauk Hwy in Amagansett, over the weekend. The show is free attend.

Preview the fall 2011 Ernst Benz Watch Collection at , 54 Newtown Ln, East Hampton, on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. All guests will be entered to win a $2,500 watch.

Aerial entertainment during three shows on Saturday and Sunday at , 77 Industrial Road in Wainscott. Electric dancers jugglers, contortionists, trapeze performers and more on Saturday and Sunday at 9 p.m. (doors open at 7) and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 for night performances, $20 for the matinee.

While it’s sold out, you might see the crowds at the various events surrounding Steve Martin’s performance with the bluegrass group The Steep Canyon Rangers at , 158 Main St, East Hampton on Saturday night at 7. There will be a pre-performance party at , 1 Main St, East Hampton, with Alec Baldwin in attendance at 5:30 p.m., and a private dinner after the performance.

The Montauk Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring fireworks on Monday at about 9 p.m.

Fireworks will light up the sky over Gardiner's Bay on Saturday night for the annual show courtesy of the . The show begins around 9 p.m.

American Musical Theatre Salutes "STRIKE UP THE PIT BAND: Broadway in a Patriotic Mode" at , 158 Main Street, East Hampton, on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $55 or $53 members. To reserve yours call 631-324-0806.

SAG HARBOR

 

Join Matt Marshak, Kenny Harris and Rodney Harris for smooth jazz on the deck at , 1 Bay Street, Sag Harbor Village, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. No cover and drink specials available.

Local musicians Brett King, Dan Koontz, Bruce Beyer, Sue Vinski, Ben Chalef, Phil Noble and others will perform at a benefit for the Community House Fund at , 44 Union Street, Sag Harbor Village, on Friday, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Richard Belzer, one of the stars of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit will be on the stage for a comedy at , Cr-79 & Bay St, Sag Harbor Village, on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Tickets are $60 for members, $65 for non members. For tickets call 631-725-9500.

A fireworks on Saturday will be on display from the , visible for the public from various locations, including the Long Wharf and the benefit at , which happens from 6 to 10 p.m. The fireworks show begins at about 9 p.m.

SOUTHAMPTON

MASH Star Book Signing

"Fridays at Five" at , 2478 Main Street, Bridgehampton, begin again this summer with actor Alan Alda and his wife Arlene Alada, a children’s book author, on Friday at 5 p.m. Admission is $15.

Fresh Air Home American Picnic and Fireworks

While the $250 tickets are sold out for the Fresh Air Home American Picnic at a private home on Meadow Lane in Southampton Village on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m., there are still $500 tickets available and, of course, you can see the fireworks for free from and points around Shinnecock Canal.

North Sea Carnival and Fireworks

The annual , at Straight Path and Johnson Avenue in North Sea, runs every day through Sunday from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $20 to $25. Fireworks will be held on Friday and Sunday at about 10 p.m.

America’s Birthday Party 

On Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., celebrate the nation's birthday at the annual Halsey House Gala on the grounds of the 1680 Thomas Halsey Homestead, 249 S Main Street in Southampton. Tickets are $125 in advance, $150 at the door. For tickets call 631-283-2494.

Cocktails for Canines

A benefit for Last Chance Animal Rescue of Southampton at Gretchen Scott Designs, 46 Jobs Lane in Southampton, for beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres and a private viewing of the collection. Tickets are $100 and are available for purchase online or in the store at Gretchen Scott Designs, Kevin Maple Salon and Tuscan House in Southampton.

Fourth of July Parade 

The Fourth of July parade in Southampton Village will kick off on Saturday morning at 10 a.m., ending up at . The Business Person of the Year will be recognized by the Southampton Chamber of Commerce at the parade.

If you are entertaining guests this weekend, be sure to head over to the , at the Village Municipal Parking Lot,  Westhampton Beach, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to pick up some fresh veggies.

Brian Stokes Mitchell Brings Broadway to Westhampton

Fireworks Display

Celebrate Fourth of July Weekend on Sunday at the Westhampton Beach Village Green on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will feature fireworks and a concert by local acts, Troubadour, The Subculture and more.
