Fort Pond House Remains on Market for $2 Million

Despite attempts to sell, and attempts to keep from selling, home remains for sale, according to an East Hampton Star report.

Despite attempts by Democrats on the town board to get it off the market, the Fort Pond House remains up for sale, with an asking price of $2 million.

According to the East Hampton Star, a vote to stop any attempt to sell the home on the Montauk pond – reportedly purchased by the town in 2003 for $890,000 – ended in a 2-2 tie, with Supervisor Bill Wilkinson and Councilwoman Theresa Quigley voting to keep it up for sale, and Councilwoman Sylvia Overby and Councilman Peter Van Scoyac voting to pull off the market.

The report states that local community groups have protested against the sale, as the home offers the only public access to the pond, beside a boat ramp. However after deciding to sell the home two years ago, the supervisor stated that the goal should remain in sight to bring in revenue for the town.
