Following Dredging Problems in Montauk Harbor, 'Sunken Line is Set'

'East Hampton Star' reports that a dredging pipe previously arose from the harbor floor, though it has been fixed.

Following an emergency meeting held last week between Supervisor Bill Wilkinson, officials with the Army Corps of Engineers, and a private dredging company which is currently dreding Montauk Harbor, boats are now reportedly clear to pass through the harbor.

According to the East Hampton Star, problems had previously arisen for boats  - including delays getting into the harbor, and at least one reported instance of a damaged ship - during the dredging project, when a 12-inch pipe transporting sand from one side of the harbor to the other rose off the harbor floor.

The Star stated last week, "The sunken line is set," adding that a central source for fisherman complaints was also agreed to at the meeting, that soruce being the ACOE.
