UPDATE: East Hampton Town, Village Offices, Library Closed on Monday

Winter blast keeps library from opening, and canceled fitness classes around town.

East Hampton Town and Village offices and the will not open on Monday due to the winter story. And, fitness classes all around town are being canceled.

Acting Town Supervisor Theresa Quigley announced on the East Hampton Town website that she had declared a snow day and that town offices would be closed.

Supervisor Bill Wilkinson wrote in an email on Monday morning that he is stuck in Florida, but has been in constant contact with town officials.

Quigley said the decision to close town hall came last night given the conditions and after discussion with Police Chief Ed Ecker "who confirmed that pretty much everyone was 'hunkered down,' we decided to close town offices." She said, "Nonetheless, we communicated with Diane Patrizio, head of human services, to ensure that our senior population would be adequately protected and not in any way jeopardized by shutting down."

As for the library, it has actually been closed since 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve. It remained closed on Christmas, and didn't open on Sunday due to the inclement weather, according to its Facebook page, which is used to get updates to the community.

The library posted an announcement at about 6:45 a.m. that it would keep its doors closed on Mondy due to the snow storm.

No word yet on whether the has also decided to close for the day.

indicated on its Web site that it has canceled all of its classes, except for the 5:30 p.m. class. also said on its Web site that the 8:15 a.m. class has been canceled.

Meanwhile, said it is open for spin classes today, despite closing its Tribeca location due to the weather.
