Don't Miss: Long Island's Best, A Pet Adoption Expo

The event will feature animals from seven Long Island-based animal shelters.

Seven Long Island shelters will be in one location on Saturday in an effort to make it as easy as possible for potential pet owners to adopt a four-legged friend. The event, created by the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. is called, "Long Island’s Best! A Pet Adoption Expo."

ARF, along with the six other Long Island shelters, will gather under one roof at the Riverhead Polish Hall, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.  with over 100 cats and dogs available for adoption.

All animals at the event are spayed/neutered, vaccinated to their age limit, and checked by a veterinarian.

Participating shelters include the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, North Fork Animal Welfare League, RSVP, SAVES, Inc., the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, and the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Admission is free; adoption fees apply. Refreshments and giveaways will also be offered.

“We want to make pet adoption as easy as possible,” ARF’s Executive Director Sara Davison said.

The unique event will offer one-stop shopping for puppies, kittens, adult dogs -- including mutts and purebreds -- and cats.

Each dog will go home with a free collar and leash, and each cat will be given a cardboard carrier.

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, which was founded in 1974, and is a no-kill adoption center, rescues cats and dogs, provides care, and offers sanctuary until homes can be found.
