April 22: Remembering a Hero

The third anniversary of the death of Marine Lance Cpl. Jordan C. Hearter is on Friday.

There's one very important event to remember about this date in our recent history.

1.  Friday marks the third anniversary of the death of Marine Lance Cpl. Jordan C. Hearter of Sag Harbor. He was just 19 when he defended his base in Iraq. The entire community has wrapped their arms around his parents JoAnn Lyles and Christian Hearter and we continue to extend our thanks for their brave son on this anniversary and every day.

2. This is also Good Friday for Christians. Check the calendar for service times, like one at at 5 p.m.

3. Friday is also the fourth day of Passover, which continues until April 26. For service over the weekend, also check the calendar. There is a on Saturday at 10 a.m., for instance.

4. Citizens for Access Rights, a group that has sprung up due to the Napeague Beach lawsuit, came out in strong numbers at Thursday night's town board meeting. Check back later on Friday for a wrap-up of what went down.

5. Also discussed at the meeting were the two lay-offs within the sanitation department because of the closing on Wednesdays. We'll bring you more information on that on Friday, as well.

Have a great holiday weekend and remember to keep our soldiers overseas in your thoughts and prayers.
