The East Hampton GOP - On The Campaign Trail

Message From The Chair

Part 3: The Republican Candidates

The East Hampton Town Republican Party was very selective in choosing its 2013 slate of candidates.  As stated in my prior messages, fiscal responsibility is the hallmark of our party and successful prospective candidates had to be committed to maintaining our Town’s sound financial footing.  In addition, professionalism and treating our citizens with respect was an essential requirement.

Dominic Stanzione, our incumbent Councilman, played a critical role in helping East Hampton emerge from financial disaster.  Dominick helped design the financial plan that was ultimately accepted by NY State. To that end, Dominick’s experience as a municipal finance professional has served the Town well. He also has taken on some of the most difficult and delicate issues facing our community, such as waste management, the airport, human services, deer management, and cell phone towers, just to name a few! Dominick has exercised leadership and professionalism in every assignment and his intelligence, independence and willingness to listen will be important and necessary attributes for the future of our Town.

Fred Overton, candidate for Town Board, has served for 13 years as Town Clerk.  Having attended over 800 board meetings, Fred has amassed vast knowledge and has a firm grasp on the issues.  As a life-long resident of East Hampton, volunteer fireman, and member of many local organizations, Fred knows our community.  We need the commitment of Fred to help move our Town forward.

Steven Lynch has been a powerhouse when it comes to running the Town’s Highway Department. Elected in 2011 as Highway Superintendent, Steven is always responsive to inquiries and issues that arise on our Town roadways. In addition, the atmosphere at the Highway Department has greatly improved under his leadership.  His fiscal skill has saved the Town hundreds of thousands of dollars and his ability to handle a crisis and take quick and decisive action was exceptionally beneficial during Hurricane Sandy.

Carl Irace is our pick for Town Justice.  Intelligent and personable, Carl will be a real asset to the Justice Court. He brings with him his 8 years of experience as a Bronx Assistant District Attorney, he has served as an Assistant East Hampton Town Attorney, and is currently in private practice.  Joining Justice Rana, he will be a great addition on our local bench.

Joe Bloecker, candidate for East Hampton Town Assessor, has lived in our community for more than 30 years.  He has a long commitment to public service, is the current president of the Montauk Friends of Erin, and was a little league volunteer for 21 years.  He is currently completing his third term as an East Hampton Town Trustee and works in the building trades.  His knowledge of our community will serve him well as our Assessor.

Carole Brennan, who currently holds the position of Deputy Town Clerk, is our Republican Town Clerk candidate.  Her knowledge of the Clerk’s office is unmatched.  She is a proven leader and will handle the multi-faceted duties of the Clerk’s office with professionalism.

Our Trustee candidates Diane McNally, Stephanie Talmage Forsberg,  Nat Miller, Sean McCaffery, Tim Bock, Mike Bottini, Dennis Curles, Tom Cooper and Brian Pardini round out our ticket.  With Diane McNally and Stephanie Talmage Forsberg at the helm, our Trustees have protected our beaches, waters, and access rights, thus ensuring that our most valuable natural resources will be healthy and viable for years to come.

Over the next few months, you will hear from our candidates and learn about their positions.  Please take a few moments to read their upcoming election messages.  I encourage all of you to attend the “Meet the Candidates” events. Visit our website at www.ehnygop.com for information concerning the candidates, for a list of events, or to contact us with concerns, ideas, suggestions, and questions.  “Like” our Facebook page to keep current on our news.  And after a fair review of the candidates experience and positions, I am sure you will join me in voting for all our Republican candidates on November 5!

Hope you all had a great summer – now let’s get to work!  See you on the Campaign Trail.
