Spring is Around the Corner, Are You Ready for Grilling?
Looking forward to spring time grilling? I can't wait, so I am starting now. Beak out that barbecue or that grill pan. Let's get spring rolling.
It is almost March. The weather will be getting warmer (not that this winter wasn't warm) and it is starting to stay lighter longer, and well...all those healthy seasonal goodies from our local markets will be here. I can't wait!!
I like to grill...or barbecue and yes I do grill year round. For those of you that do not like to grill outside in the winter months (I have been known to stand outside freezing my you-know-what off), I prefer to use a wonderful piece of cookware known as the grill pan. Not only is it great for paninis, I like it for my veggies, fish, and well...just about anything I feel like grilling. And it is of course, healthier. But now you ask: what about that smokey taste? There are great seasonings that are out there that have smoke infused in them. I like to use my basics...a smoked sea salt as well as smoked black pepper. And a little bit goes a very long way. Talk about that smokey taste without freezing!!! Delish!!
This time of year, there are quite a few delectable things that are great when grilled, such as butternut squash or carrots, onions, peppers, cabbage, and one of my favorites, scallions. Pair them with either a salad or on top of some fresh pasta, or even in soup to give it kick.

With March right at our doorstep, go shopping at our little local markets for some of that real good produce. Or if you happen to come across some fresh caught fish, and don't feel like standing outside to cook your meal, grab that grill pan, put on a tropical color apron, crank up the Jimmy Buffet and enjoy.
March does not have to be shall we say, dull...have fun...make March the new May...have some friends over...who says grilling is just for the summer? I say we start spring now. I would love to hear about some of your March grilling ideas.
