CAN JUSTICE COURT SERVE EAST HAMPTON BETTER?

Our court needs to serve our community better.  On Election Day, our community will select our new judge.  Our new judge must have the depth and breadth of experience to make a difference.

Justice Court is our community court where we resolve community problems and disputes.  Our court has recently seen significant increases in the number of cases and the severity of cases.

These changes increase the pressure on our court and court staff to perform.  To deal with the high volume of cases, and the increasing complexity of them, we need to take advantage of important Court resources that neighboring courts have, like Youth Court and Drug Treatment Court.

The only way to bring these programs here is to improve efficiency.  We need our new judge to be someone who has practiced in many different courtrooms; someone who knows what works to help courts run more efficiently; someone who will bring those best practices home to East Hampton to serve our Justice Court and our community.  Together, we can help our court meet the demands it faces and help our court better serve our community.
